great marketing quotes

Welcome to another chapter of our Book of Quotes. Recently it was all about sales quotes and tips on how can you keep a positive attitude during the sales process. Now it’s time to open the next chapter – Marketing Quotes.

Being good at marketing means you need to know your audience in and out. You must know their preferences, lifestyles and the way they buy. Having this knowledge allows you to speak their language, appeal to their needs and provide things they’re looking for.

Following this idea, I’ve prepared a list of great marketing quotes. I think they speak of the real essence of marketing – people and their behaviour.

Good marketers see consumers as complete human beings with all the dimensions real people have. Jonah Sachs, American storyteller, author, designer and entrepreneur

There are real people behind the data. Good marketers have the ability to see these human beings in every detail. They know who their customers are, what they do, what they need from the product. They’re aware of their lifestyles and the way they buy and use their product and service.

It might sound like a little stalking here but the more you know about your customers, the better you can suit their needs. It’s just easier for you to predict what they will like and accordingly come up with new features.

Our jobs as marketers are to understand how the customer wants to buy and help them do so. Bryan Eisenberg, Founder & CMO at IdealSpot

Do you really know your customers buying behaviour? Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do my customers turn to their friends and families for advice before they decide to make a purchase?
  • Do they make a research, compare the products, read reviews?
  • What devices do they use to browse my website? Do they use phones? Is my website responsive?
  • Also, think about the customer service you offer and ask yourself this:

  • Do my customers need help in real-time during buying process?
  • Does response time influence their buying decision?
  • Then you need to work on the things you can improve for your customers.
  • Good marketing makes the company look smart. Great marketing makes the customer feel smart Joe Chernov, VP of Marketing for InsightSquared

In other words, the customer needs to feel that he’s making a smart choice by buying your product.

For example, by using LiveChat, customers can increase their conversion rates. It’s promising but what’s so smart about it? Customers need to hear and see more. That’s how I show them more.

Let’s say our prospect is a real estate agent. It means he leaves the office a lot to show potential customers properties. In the meantime he probably stops by for a coffee. By placing LiveChat on his website, this agent can help his customers in real-time from any place he wants.

He can leave the office without actually abandoning his work. He can show the apartments, be at the coffee shop or stuck in the traffic and he is still able to help customers on chat through his phone or tablet. That’s smart, right? And he feels smart, because he saves time and gains clients.

You can read more about how LiveChat helps real estate agents and how they feel about it.

People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it Simon Sinek, Author, motivational speaker

Selling products is not enough today. People want to buy from brands who have an idea behind their business. They are tired of ads they can see everywhere and which are mainly made to encourage them to buy more and more.

That’s why brands like Patagonia are so successful today. They’re different, they stand out. Patagonia was not created to make a lot of money for its founder. Yvon Chouinard never wanted to be a businessman. He just wanted to do his craft (he’s a self–taught blacksmith) and climb mountains.

Today, he’s running one of the best outdoor gear and clothing companies in the world. Why he does it? Running his company gives him a chance to fight for what he cares the most: the environment. And that’s why people love this brand so much. You can read more about it in Justyna’s post about cause marketing.

    Know your audience

I hope these great marketing quotes and quick lessons from me encouraged you to get to know your audience even more.

Today, customers are more aware of their needs and they are looking for information to solve them. As a marketer, you should be aware of these needs. It will help you set the communication strategy that speaks their language and create a buying process that they really want.
